The summit was convened under the guiding theme of ensuring sustainable water supply and protected sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063. Leaders deliberated on issues from the 48th African Union Executive Council Ordinary Session. Among the key agendas were water security and sanitation improvement, implementation of Agenda 2063 and regional integration, social and economic development, human resource development, institutional and financial reforms, future partnerships, and Africa's role in the global architecture.

Additionally, the 2nd Tariku-Africa Summit was reported to have taken place with great enthusiasm and success. The Addis Ababa City Administration, through Mayor Adanech Abaye, stated that Ethiopian hospitality and the city's impressive preparations provided a major boost to the summits. She noted that the events were organized in a perfectly successful manner in our capital Addis Ababa.
