Around 50,000 workers from West Java will stage an action at Monas in Jakarta on May 1, 2026, to mark Labor Day. They plan to voice aspirations directly to President Prabowo Subianto, who is expected to attend. Key demands include a new labor law draft.
Thousands of workers from West Java province, under KSPSI Jabar, are preparing to commemorate May Day at Monumen Nasional (Monas) in Jakarta on Friday, May 1, 2026. KSPSI Jabar Chairman Roy Jinto said around 50,000 members will attend to join the celebration with the President of Indonesia.
"For May 1, KSPSI in West Java will send about 50,000 (workers) members to participate in the May Day celebration at Monas with the President of the Republic of Indonesia," Roy Jinto stated on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Labor leaders will voice aspirations regarding a new Labor Law draft scheduled for approval in October. Roy stressed that the law must favor workers and protect their rights and health. He hopes President Prabowo Subianto will respond directly to these demands.
No action is planned in Bandung city, shifted to Jakarta. Roy noted that Gedung Sate is under renovation, making a local May Day event unlikely.
