Hon. (Dr.) Oladipupo Adebutu, 2023 PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 election. He conveyed the decision in a letter dated April 30, 2026, to party leaders. Adebutu promises purposeful and people-oriented leadership.
Hon. (Dr.) Oladipupo Adebutu, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, formally declared his ambition to contest the state's top seat again in the 2027 general elections.
He conveyed this in a letter dated April 30, 2026, addressed to the Ogun State Chairman of the PDP through the party’s chairman in Odogbolu Local Government Area. The letter was made available to journalists on May 1, 2026, by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya.
“I wish to formally notify the leadership of our great party of my intention to contest for the office of Governor of Ogun State under the platform of the PDP in the 2027 general elections,” Adebutu stated in the letter. He added, “this decision is borne out of my commitment to the ideals of our party and my desire to provide purposeful and people-oriented leadership for the good people of Ogun State.”
Adebutu expressed gratitude to party leaders and members for their “unwavering support and loyalty,” urging greater unity as the party prepares for 2027. He reaffirmed his dedication to strengthening PDP structures, describing himself as a “law-abiding citizen and loyal party member.”
“Internal cohesion and collective resolve will determine our success. I remain committed to working with all stakeholders and factions within the party to achieve our shared goal,” he said, assuring readiness to foster collaboration and inclusiveness.
