The trailer teases dark twists in the Crawford family home.
Amazon MGM Studios released the teaser trailer for Verity on April 27. The movie adapts Colleen Hoover's novel and follows Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson, who is hired to complete Verity Crawford's book series after the author, portrayed by Anne Hathaway, becomes incapacitated. Lowen uncovers a disturbing unfinished manuscript while staying at the Crawford home and growing close to Verity's husband Jeremy, played by Josh Hartnett. The cast also includes Ismael Cruz Córdova, Brady Wagner, Asel Swango and Daniel Echevarria, with Michael Showalter directing. Directed by Michael Showalter, who previously collaborated with Hathaway on The Idea of You, the film arrives amid strong box office success for other Hoover adaptations. It Ends with Us grossed over $351 million worldwide, Regretting You exceeded $90 million, and Reminders of Him surpassed $84 million. The trailer shows Lowen entering the dark Crawford home, with Verity ill in bed. It depicts an intimate moment where Lowen kisses who appears to be Jeremy, only for it to reveal Verity herself, prompting horror. Verity warns Lowen, “Even with my generous warning, you’re going to continue to ingest my words. But know one thing: there is no light where we’re going. Darkness ahead.”
