Basketcase Gallery and New Balance have collaborated on a Friends and Family edition of the 204L sneaker, previewed during Paris Fashion Week. The grey-toned design features premium materials like pony hair and nubuck. A limited release is set for March 6, 2026, in Japan and online.
Basketcase Gallery, a Los Angeles-based streetwear label founded by Zach Kinninger, has partnered with New Balance for the third time on the 204L silhouette. This follows their "Pine Valley" collaboration from the previous year. The new Friends and Family version was unveiled during Paris Fashion Week and is displayed at Basketcase’s Le Marais showroom in Paris.
The sneakers adopt a slim, indoor soccer-inspired aesthetic with a muted grey palette. They include rich pony hair underlays, light grey nubuck overlays, and leather lining. The "N" logos also feature pony hair for added texture. Additional details comprise an off-white sockliner and midsole, along with options for pink and off-white laces. The build is completed by an EVA foam midsole and low-profile outsole, emphasizing a minimalist style.
Basketcase, established in 2018, began with tattoo stencils in Kinninger’s college dorm and has since become known for goth-tinged apparel and artist collaborations that blend streetwear with fine art.
The exclusive grey colorway is reserved for Friends and Family. It will launch on March 6, 2026, through a special activation at TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance T-HOUSE in Nihonbashi, Japan. On the same day, a limited online drop will be available exclusively to Basketcase’s Friends and Family email list members starting at 3:00 PM ET. Basketcase has confirmed another 204L version for wider release later in 2026, though details remain unannounced.
