JJJJound has previewed a new collaboration with New Balance on the 1890 model, featuring a tuxedo-like black-and-white design. The sneaker incorporates black mesh uppers, white tongues, and satin-like taping for an elevated look. It is expected to release during the SS26 season.
The Montreal-based studio JJJJound continues its partnership with New Balance, applying its minimalist style to the 1890 silhouette. This version draws inspiration from the 2002 runner and the 890v3, blending lifestyle and running elements. Key features include black mesh uppers with black overlays, contrasted by white tongues and midsoles, evoking a tuxedo aesthetic where the taping mimics satin lapels on a jacket. JJJJound added co-branded details, such as its name on the insoles and lateral panel, without major changes to the technical specs like the ABZORB midsole for impact absorption through cushioning and compression resistance. This release follows recent 1890 variants from collaborators like Action Bronson and JoeFreshGoods, as well as Comme des Garçons HOMME. JJJJound's take stands out for its subtlety in color and construction compared to those bolder designs. As noted in JJJJound's post, the sneakers are slated for the SS26 season, though no exact date has been confirmed.
