Billie Jean King will receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Cal State LA on Monday. The 82-year-old tennis champion left the university in 1964 to pursue her professional career. She is also set to deliver the keynote address at the Shrine Auditorium ceremony in Los Angeles.
King was admitted to the university in 1961 and dropped out three years later to focus on tennis. She completed the remaining credits through distance learning while traveling for her career. The coursework included topics such as LGBT Political History in the United States and the History of Latin American Women and Gender.
