Blue Origin plans to launch its New Glenn rocket again before the end of 2026 following a launchpad explosion at Cape Canaveral last month. The company has begun rebuilding the damaged facility in Florida. CEO Dave Limp stated the goal during a recent appearance at VivaTech.
Blue Origin is rebuilding its launch site at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station after the explosion. The facility has been cleared of debris, with reconstruction starting on Tuesday. The site remains the only location from which the company can launch the New Glenn rocket.
Limp told the VivaTech audience that the company aims to fly the rocket this year. The timeline comes amid ongoing contracts with NASA for lunar missions and a delayed satellite launch deal with Amazon.
Blue Origin faces added pressure from rival SpaceX, which recently debuted on the Nasdaq at a $1.77 trillion valuation. The company has started seeking external funding for the first time to support its ambitions of launching more than 100 rockets annually.
