Princess Anne visited a South Korean shipyard and a war cemetery on Tuesday as part of her three-day trip marking the 75th anniversary of key Korean War battles.
Princess Anne, accompanied by her husband Vice Adm. Sir Tim Laurence, toured HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' shipyard in Ulsan. She met chairman Chung Ki-sun, who highlighted partnerships with British companies including Rolls-Royce and Beaufort.
Chung called Britain "a special partner" that aided the Korean shipbuilder's early growth and pledged to expand maritime cooperation.
In Busan the same day, the princess laid a wreath at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery to honor 1,598 British and Commonwealth troops killed in the 1950-53 Korean War. She noted that their sacrifices helped South Korea develop and said the fallen would be proud of the nation's progress.
The visits formed part of events marking the 75th anniversary of the Battles of Imjin River and Gapyeong. Princess Anne is scheduled to meet President Lee Jae Myung in Seoul.
