Sergio Perez received a 10-second penalty after the Monaco Grand Prix, dropping Cadillac from a potential points finish. The sanction followed an investigation into his starting position at the race restart.
Cadillac Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez finished 10th on the road in the Monaco Grand Prix but was penalised for being out of position at the second start. Stewards determined that the front right wheel of his car was outside the starting box, applying the standard 10-second penalty. The race had been red-flagged due to deteriorating track surface at Antony Noghes corner after crashes by Lance Stroll and Charles Leclerc. Perez had already served an earlier drive-through penalty for lining up in the wrong grid spot. As a result, Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin inherited 10th place, giving the team its first point of the season and moving it ahead of Cadillac in the constructors’ championship. Perez also received a reprimand for an improper practice start. Perez told stewards he remained optimistic based on the evidence reviewed but accepted the decision would stand. He noted the team had achieved the on-track result through persistence despite multiple setbacks.
