California man sentenced to 216 years for 2023 murder

Kenneth McNally Jr. received a 216-year prison sentence late last week for the 2023 killing of Samuel Holthaus in San Diego County.

A jury convicted McNally, 42, earlier this year on charges including first-degree murder, shooting at an inhabited structure, and multiple assault counts tied to the September 3, 2023, incident in Harbison Canyon. Prosecutors said he strangled Holthaus, 59, with an extension cord, shot him, and dragged the body before burying it in a shallow grave.
