Harrowing CCTV footage has captured the final moments of 22-year-old Consolata Githinji before she fell to her death from the sixth-floor balcony of an Airbnb apartment in Kileleshwa. She arrived with a 33-year-old man in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, detectives say. The man claims he found her on a bedroom window moments before she jumped.
Detectives have reviewed CCTV footage detailing the sequence of events. At 4:11am, a security guard was on his rounds in the Kileleshwa apartment complex. Six minutes later, at 4:17am, Consolata Githinji and the 33-year-old man arrived together; she briefly reached toward the guard, who moved away.
At 4:18am, the guard assisted them in accessing a keybox for the sixth-floor apartment. Earlier, between 5:56pm and 3:57am, two women and another man had entered the same unit.
Shadows appeared near the door at 4:32am, suggesting a disturbance. The guard entered the apartment at 4:34am, exited at 4:43am after lingering, and returned briefly at 4:46am—the last time Consolata was seen alive.
The man told investigators, “When I got there, she was standing on the bedroom window. By the time I reacted, she jumped, I could not save the situation.” Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers arrived nearly two hours later to process the scene. Authorities note the apartment was not booked by the man and are verifying his account against footage, witness statements, and forensics.
