Ceará beats Corinthians 1-0 at Neo Química Arena

In the 33rd round of the Brazilian Championship, Ceará defeated Corinthians 1-0 away at Neo Química Arena in São Paulo. The lone goal was scored by Galeano in the first half, securing Vozão's first win against Timão in São Paulo for the Brasileirão. The result saw Corinthians drop to 13th place, while Ceará rose to 12th.

The match took place on Sunday, November 9, with around 40,000 fans at Neo Química Arena, also known as Itaquera. Ceará, which had never beaten Corinthians in São Paulo in the Brazilian Championship, opened the scoring in the 30th minute on a rare counterattack with a goal from Galeano. Nine minutes later, at the 39th, Memphis Depay took a low free kick from just outside the Ceará area, but Corinthians defender André Ramalho threw himself on the ground facing away from the ball and ended up hit on the rear, in a moment described as bizarre and symbolic of the game.

Corinthians, dominated throughout, failed to respond and suffered their fifth home loss in the Brasileirão, with four draws and seven wins, totaling just 25 of 48 possible points at Neo Química Arena. Under Dorival Júnior, the team showed a lack of tactical ideas and rehearsed plays, according to journalist Juca Kfouri's analysis. With the fourth-highest payroll in the league, Timão now has 42 points and is out of the Copa Sul-Americana qualification zone.

Ceará, meanwhile, reached 43 points and overtook their opponents in the standings. Kfouri criticized Corinthians' management, emphasizing the need for changes to avoid a worse future, including fan pressure and solutions like SAF or negotiations with Caixa Econômica Federal for stadium naming rights. 'Save Corinthians, former champion of champions!', the columnist concluded.
