Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during Denmark's friendly match against Ukraine on Sunday afternoon, prompting the game to be abandoned after 79 minutes.
The incident occurred in the second half at Nature Energy Park in Odense. The 34-year-old midfielder clutched his chest and fell to the ground, with players from both teams forming a protective huddle as medics attended to him. Denmark's national team doctor Morten Boesen said Eriksen was briefly unconscious but regained consciousness quickly. 'Christian is doing well and walked off the pitch by himself,' Boesen said. 'As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should. He will now undergo further examinations at the hospital to determine what caused the incident.' The Danish Football Union confirmed Eriksen was conscious and doing well under the circumstances. He received treatment for about 13 minutes before walking off to a standing ovation from the crowd. The match had been led by Denmark 2-1 at the time of abandonment.
