Congress today rejected the fiscal stability path for a second time, with 176 votes against from PP, Vox, Junts and UPN, following an earlier rejection on July 14.
The vote, held on July 23, 2026, on the third anniversary of the 23-J elections, saw 166 votes in favor from PSOE, Sumar and allied groups, plus abstentions from Podemos and Compromís.
Finance Minister Arcadi España defended that the path would give autonomous communities a deficit margin of 5,840 million euros over three years. PP, Vox and Junts maintained their rejection, arguing the proposal was identical to the one rejected the previous week.
The government has said it will present a 2027 budget project aligned with European Commission rules, though Junts has already said it will not support it.
