Trains on CPTM's Line 11-Coral resume service between Corinthians-Itaquera and Tatuapé stations starting at 4 a.m. on Monday (5). The partial shutdown, which began on December 29, was due to expansion works on the metro's Line 2-Green. The reopening happened ahead of schedule following the early completion of some tasks.
CPTM's Line 11-Coral returns to full operation between Corinthians-Itaquera and Tatuapé stations on Monday (5), starting at 4 a.m. This resumption ends the partial shutdown in place since December 29, 2025, enacted as a safety measure during expansion works on São Paulo's metro Line 2-Green.
The disruption was required to allow the passage of the shield tunnel boring machine, nicknamed Tatuzão, which excavated tunnels near the rail line of Line 11-Coral in the area of the future Penha station. These works are part of the first phase of Line 2-Green's expansion, adding an 8 km stretch from Vila Prudente to Penha with eight new stations. The project also includes building a new station for Line 11-Coral at Penha.
Free metro integrations at Corinthians-Itaquera and Tatuapé stations will remain open from 4:40 a.m. The inter-company transport support plan (Paese) will be reinforced during the morning rush hour, with free buses running between Tatuapé and Corinthians-Itaquera along Radial Leste. Operators will assess the need for service in the afternoon peak and subsequent days.
The early reopening, ahead of the original January 7 date, results from the timely finish of certain activities. Initially, however, trains will pass the Penha station area at reduced speed.
