Pearl Abyss announced that its open-world action RPG Crimson Desert has sold over 6 million copies worldwide. The figure reflects copies sold through to players rather than units shipped to retailers. This milestone comes less than three months after the game's release.
The Korean studio shared the update on X, thanking players for their ongoing support. The previous sales figure of 5 million copies was reported in late April, at which point staff received a bonus of 5 million KRW.
Crimson Desert received mixed reviews at launch, with critics pointing to its unfocused structure and controls. Despite this, player interest has remained strong. Pearl Abyss has continued to issue updates, including a story rework aimed at improving narrative coherence.
The most recent patch, released last week, introduced new minigames such as pinball along with additional mounts, pets, and bug fixes.
