Musician Dev Hynes will compose the score for Olivia Wilde’s new A24 movie The Invite. He has released the track “Contentious Environment” from the soundtrack.
The film is a remake of the 2020 Spanish comedy The People Upstairs. It stars Seth Rogen as Joe and Wilde as Angela, a couple whose relationship faces challenges after inviting neighbors played by Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton to dinner.
This marks Wilde’s return to directing since her 2022 film Don’t Worry Darling. For Hynes it is his sixth film score and his first project with Wilde.
Hynes previously scored Paul Schrader’s Master Gardener in 2022, Rebecca Hall’s Passing in 2021, Melina Matsoukas’s Queen & Slim in 2019, and two Gia Coppola films: Palo Alto in 2013 and Mainstream in 2020.
