The Los Angeles Dodgers added relief pitcher Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies on Monday afternoon. The trade sent outfielder Landyn Vidourek and right-hander Nick Frasso to the Rockies in return.
Halvorsen, 26, has been sidelined since July 4 with right shoulder inflammation. He started a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday and will continue building up with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The right-hander has posted a 4.74 ERA in 19 innings this season with the Rockies. He is known for high velocity but has issued 38 walks in 71 career innings.
Manager Dave Roberts said the Dodgers are excited about Halvorsen's arm talent. Vidourek, 22, hit .170 with six home runs in Single-A this year, while Frasso has a 3.90 ERA across five minor league seasons.
