Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has directed the National Press Authority to prepare studies on achieving financial sustainability and settling debts for state-owned press institutions.
The directive came during a meeting on Sunday attended by Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Issa, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, and National Press Authority Head Abdel Sadek El-Shorbagy.
Madbouly said the government is prioritising the debt settlement file to implement presidential directives aimed at supporting Egyptian media and enhancing its national role. The studies will be reviewed in coordination with Issa before presentation at a subsequent meeting.
Kouchouk affirmed the finance ministry’s commitment to coordinating with the authority. Rashwan noted that resolving the dues aligns with the state’s strategy to support the media sector’s financial viability. El-Shorbagy outlined recent efforts focused on maximising asset use to generate sustainable revenues.
