Madbouly chairs meeting to review Sinai development plans

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a high-level meeting on Sunday to review executive plans for developing the Sinai Peninsula and boosting investments, as part of the government's strategy for balanced urban growth. Officials reported that 975 projects worth EGP 638 billion have been implemented since 2014. The efforts aim to drive economic growth and increase population density in the region.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired Sunday's high-level meeting, attended by Water Resources Minister Hani Sewilam, Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk, Presidential Advisor for Military Affairs Osama Askar, Local Development Minister Manal Awad, and the governors of North and South Sinai via video conference.

Madbouly described Sinai as “not only a precious part of Egypt, but also a gateway for development and a promising opportunity to drive economic growth and urban balance.” He noted government investments in billions across agriculture, industry, tourism, and infrastructure, including upgrades to Arish Port and peninsula airports.

Officials disclosed that 975 projects valued at EGP 638 billion have been executed since 2014, spanning education, healthcare, agriculture, transport, and energy. Sewilam detailed the Sheikh Jaber Canal serving 275,000 feddans and the Bahr El-Baqar system irrigating over 270,000 feddans, while Askar highlighted President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's directives to expand tourism and agriculture projects.

Farouk affirmed the agriculture ministry's commitment to food security under Egypt Vision 2030. Awad outlined sanitation projects and slaughterhouses in Ras Sudr, Abu Redis, and Arish, plus the Holy Family Trail. Madbouly directed accelerating support services and streamlining procedures to attract investors.
