Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the Bad Homburg Open due to right hip discomfort just days before Wimbledon. The World No. 2 announced the decision on Friday and said she will consult her medical team. Her participation at the Grand Slam remains uncertain.
Rybakina stated: “Unfortunately, I have to withdraw from Bad Homburg due to some discomfort in my right hip. I need to consult with my medical team and undergo further assessment before making any decisions about the next steps.”
Wimbledon begins in 10 days. The withdrawal shortens her grass-court preparation after earlier losses at Queen’s Club and the Berlin Open.
Rybakina holds a 34-13 record on grass and won the title at Wimbledon in 2022. She has faced previous physical setbacks, including withdrawals from the Italian Open in 2024 and the French Open in 2023.
Her ranking points and top-four standing could shift depending on her recovery and performance at the All England Club.
