Senator Enrique Inzunza announced on Wednesday that he will not seek the Morena candidacy for governor of Sinaloa in 2027. He stated he will complete his legislative term until 2030.
Inzunza posted a message on his X account rejecting rumors about a possible candidacy. “That is the responsibility that the people of Sinaloa gave me, and I will honor it, as until now, with punctuality, commitment and decorum, until its end in 2030”, he wrote.
The announcement came hours before Morena presents its call to select candidates for the 2027 state elections. Citlalli Hernández, president of Morena’s National Elections Commission, noted that Inzunza faces accusations affecting his reputation.
Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum avoided commenting on the senator’s political future. She indicated it is up to the party and the people to decide if he registers or not.
