A 40-year-old man was detained by the Military Police after being reported by his own father for suspected car theft and other items in São Paulo's south zone. The father grew suspicious when his son arrived home with belongings that were not his. Police recovered the vehicle and returned it to the owner.
On the morning of Friday, January 16, 2026, in the Americanópolis neighborhood in São Paulo's south zone, a father called the Military Police to report his 40-year-old son. According to the police report, the father became suspicious when the suspect arrived home with a vehicle key and items that did not belong to him.
With the homeowner's authorization on Rua Fanfula, officers searched the residence. Inside a dresser, they found a fake gun, a Samsung S24 Plus cellphone, five bank cards in a woman's name, and the key to a stolen Honda City. The suspect said the car was parked on Rua Henry Leonardos, about 2 km away.
According to the PM, the Honda City was stolen around 8 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, when an armed man approached the victim and fled with the vehicle, the cellphone, and other items belonging to the woman. The case was logged as theft at the 98th Police District in Jardim Miriam. The vehicle and recovered items were returned to the owner.
