Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning to give the San Diego Padres a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday at Petco Park.
Tatis connected on a slider from Reds right-hander Chase Petty and lined the ball into the first row in left field for his second home run of the season. The blast marked his fifth career walk-off hit. The Padres trailed 4-2 before rallying in the eighth. Samad Taylor, recently called up from Triple-A, delivered a two-out game-tying single into center field off reliever Tony Santillan. Michael King held the Reds to two runs over six innings but allowed a solo home run to JJ Bleday in the seventh after the manager left him in the game. Taylor has now recorded two go-ahead or game-tying hits in high-leverage situations since joining the club last week.
