A fire broke out Sunday afternoon in the Var region near Draguignan. It burned 180 hectares and required the evacuation of 150 people.
The fire started in Taradeau and spread toward Arcs-sur-Argens. Fueled by wind and dry vegetation, it burned four houses and impacted nine others. One firefighter was lightly injured.
Authorities evacuated 150 residents from the two communes to community halls and a school. By 10 p.m., residents of Taradeau were able to return home, as were those in some neighborhoods of Arcs.
Var firefighters commander Eric Grohin said the fire advanced very strongly but was evolving favorably Sunday evening. SNCF traffic remains heavily disrupted between Nice and Marseille.
