Jesse Jones faces first-degree murder charges after allegedly stabbing his wife Meaghan Bowler during an argument at their Sarasota home, where their two young sons were present. He waited several hours before calling 911, during which she bled out in a bathtub. Deputies found the victim with stab wounds and pronounced her dead at a hospital.
Jesse Jones, 39, stands accused of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Meaghan Bowler, at their residence on the 3700 block of 82nd Avenue Circle East in Sarasota. The incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. Their two boys, both under age 2, were unharmed inside the home during the event. Jones admitted to dispatchers that he stabbed her during an argument, either the previous night or that morning, and said, 'I hope I didn't wait too long,' before calling 911 several hours later, Sheriff's Office spokesman Rick Warren told WFLA. He also confessed on scene to stabbing her on the first floor and moving her body to a second-floor bathtub, where deputies found her unconscious with stab wounds and a light pulse. Paramedics attempted resuscitation for 20 minutes before rushing her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Jones declined to speak with detectives after arrest and remains in jail without bond, with a probation violation hearing scheduled for Friday and arraignment on May 22. Neighbor Carol Fraser described the police response to WFLA as 'horrific,' with officers rushing in wearing bulletproof gear. The couple had lived there about a year, and no prior domestic violence calls had been reported to the address, Warren noted. 'We just hope that he'll open up and tell us what led up to it,' Warren added.
