Foo Fighters performed 'Caught in the Echo' and 'Child Actor' live for the first time on the April 25 episode of SNL UK. The band became the first American musical guest on the London-filmed show, hosted by Nicola Coughlan. Dave Grohl made a cameo in Coughlan's opening monologue alongside Jimmy Fallon.
Foo Fighters opened their set with the high-energy 'Caught in the Echo,' the first single and opening track from their newly released album 'Your Favorite Toy.' They followed with 'Child Actor,' where Grohl sings about the pressures of fame: 'I was a child actor, a face on a wall / Holding my breath as I wait for the curtain to fall / Was it good enough? / Was it ever good enough?' The performance nodded to the band's history on the US version of Saturday Night Live, including a reference to Christopher Walken's infamous 2003 introduction recreated by Coughlan. Foo Fighters marked a milestone as the first international act and first American artist on SNL UK, following British performers like Wet Leg and Kasabian. During Coughlan's monologue, she spotted Grohl backstage, exclaiming, 'Jimmy. Jimmy. It’s Dave Grohl.' Fallon encouraged her, saying, 'Because we’re live, he has to say yes' to being best friends, leading to high-fives and heart hands. Grohl also appeared in a sketch. 'Your Favorite Toy' is the band's twelfth studio album and first with drummer Ilan Rubin, following 2023's 'But Here We Are,' which reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200. The album launched just before the show, with a London listening party featuring surprise appearances by Grohl and Pat Smear. Foo Fighters begin their tour on April 28 at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
