Hong Kong police seize HK$180m cocaine in largest bust of year

Hong Kong police arrested three men and seized 241kg of suspected cocaine worth HK$180 million during a raid at Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter on Friday.

Acting senior superintendent Kwan Chun-hin from the Narcotics Bureau said the operation on Sunday dismantled a trafficking syndicate. He noted that police intercepted the cocaine bricks before they entered the local market.

Kwan said one suspect had a fishing background and used routine maritime routes to conceal smuggling. He added that the seizure marks the largest cocaine trafficking case in the past year.

The three arrested include the suspected mastermind and two key syndicate members. Kwan stressed that police have the capability to prevent narcotics from reaching the streets.
