In Maylis Daubon's trial, civil party depicts sadistic mother

At the Mont-de-Marsan hearing, civil parties' lawyers sharply criticized Maylis Daubon, accused of poisoning her two daughters. The 53-year-old cries incessantly as her ex-husband is portrayed as a victim of a criminal scheme. Her mythomaniac personality puzzles the court.

Maylis Daubon's trial took place at the Landes assizes in Mont-de-Marsan. Accused of poisoning her daughters Enea and Luan, with the eldest Enea fatally, this 53-year-old mother faces serious charges. Her divorce from ex-husband Yannick Reverdy occurred in 2009, after which he was excluded from his children's daily lives.

Emotion filled the courtroom during the hearing. Maylis Daubon, face masked and torso hunched, sobs continuously for twenty minutes. Me Fabien Large, Yannick Reverdy's lawyer, delivers a scathing plea. He calls her the « spider » at the center of a « web » where she lures her victims to execute a « criminal project » meticulously planned over years.

In an accusatory tone, the lawyer points at the defendant, describing her as a « Black Widow » living in a « cursed house » filled with medications. He emphasizes her mythomaniac and enigmatic personality, which continues to divide the court. Experts suggest possible Münchhausen syndrome, where she poisoned her daughters by overdosing them with drugs, unable to bear the growing distance from Enea, who was 18 at the time of the events.

The younger daughter, Luan, now 22, testified in a previous hearing, offering inconsistent defenses of her mother. This portrait of a mother both devoted and obsessed with health and control emerges as central to the trial, highlighting psychological and family stakes.
