Indonesia's Foreign Ministry confirmed that three citizens in Venezuela are safe following twin earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yvonne Elizabeth Mewengkang made the statement in Jakarta on Thursday (25/6). She advised Indonesians in Venezuela to follow local authorities and contact the embassy in Caracas if assistance is needed.
Venezuela declared a national emergency after the Wednesday quakes. Acting President Delcy Rodriguez said the main Maiquetia airport was closed due to damage. Areas including Caracas, Miranda, La Guaira, Aragua, Carabobo, and Falcon were reported severely affected.
Basarnas said it is ready to send a team if instructed by the central government. Operations Deputy Edy Prakoso confirmed no official request had been received from Venezuela as of Thursday.
