The event will occur at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia on May 30 and May 31, with Jay-Z performing on the first day alongside the Roots. Additional performers are yet to be revealed, and tickets went on sale immediately after the announcement on March 17, 2026. This news coincides with preparations for the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z's debut album Reasonable Doubt, originally released in June 1996. Recently, he made his 1996 single “Dead Presidents” available on digital platforms for the first time, along with vinyl, cassette, and CD editions. The promotional flyer for his set features his name with the umlaut from the album's initial release. Jay-Z's last live performance was in 2025 during Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour, where they duetted “Crazy in Love” at the Paris finale. They had previously shared the stage at the Global Citizen Festival in 2018. His longstanding connection with the Roots dates to the 1990s, including their role as his backing band for the 2001 MTV Unplugged album. Rumors suggest possible new music to mark the anniversary, though Jay-Z has not confirmed this. His most recent studio album, 4:44, came out in 2017 and earned Grammy nominations for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.
