Rafa Jódar defeated Alex Michelsen 7-6(2), 6-7(5), 4-6, 6-3 and 6-4 in a match lasting more than four hours. The contest took place on the Simonne Mathieu court at Roland Garros.
After the victory, Jódar headed to the locker room and crossed paths with a ball girl. The young woman tripped on the tarp. The footage suggested possible contact, but Jódar denied any touch.
"She tried to move away, leaned back and slipped. I did not touch her. I would never do anything to a ball girl," the player stated in the press room. Jódar will face Pablo Carreño in the round of 16.
