Jakub Mensik overcame Andrey Rublev 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3 to reach his first French Open quarterfinal. The Czech player will next face Joao Fonseca.
Mensik, the 26th seed from the Czech Republic, secured the victory after three hours and 45 minutes on the clay courts in Paris. He saved 10 of 15 break points and won 77 percent of first-serve points in the match. Rublev, seeded 11th, had earlier held leads in the third and fourth sets but could not close out the contest.
