Jannik Sinner defeated Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday to reach the Italian Open semi-finals. The victory gave the Italian his 32nd straight Masters 1000 win, surpassing the previous record of 31 set by Novak Djokovic in 2011.
Sinner controlled the one-hour, 32-minute match from start to finish. The 24-year-old Italian is now two wins away from a sixth consecutive Masters 1000 title. He also became one of only two men to reach the final four at the first five Masters 1000 events of a season, matching Rafael Nadal's achievement from 2010 and 2011.
