Baltimore Orioles left-hander Keegan Akin was placed on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow discomfort. The move came prior to Monday night's series opener against the White Sox at Camden Yards and is retroactive to Sunday. Akin is not expected back until after the All-Star break at the earliest.
The 31-year-old had been one of only two left-handers in the Orioles bullpen. He posted a 5.68 ERA over 24 games this season but had allowed no earned runs in his previous 8 2/3 innings.
The Orioles recalled left-hander Josh Walker from Triple-A Norfolk to replace Akin. Walker had appeared in three games with Baltimore earlier this season.
Akin, a 2016 second-round draft pick, is in his seventh MLB season, all spent with Baltimore.
