Former Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert believes tight end Pat Freiermuth has untapped potential heading into his sixth NFL season.
Colbert highlighted Freiermuth's ability to make contested catches as a standout trait from his 2021 draft evaluation. He noted the player's route running and size as additional strengths that paired well with his hands.
In comments to Steelers Depot, Colbert said a new offense under coach Mike McCarthy could unlock further growth. "Have we seen the best of him? Probably not. New offense, we'll see what happens," he stated.
Freiermuth recorded 41 receptions for a career-high 11.9 yards per catch in 2025 despite limited targets. He remains under contract through 2029 with the Steelers.
