Jennifer Finch, the longtime bassist for the rock band L7, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer and is undergoing treatment.
Finch was initially expected to receive radiation treatment, but unforeseen complications led to multiple surgeries. These have caused severe physical limitations, and she now requires extensive medical care.
Her family and friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover costs for professional nursing, medical equipment, rehabilitation, therapy, and other needs. The funds will also support archiving her work and completing a creative project planned for next year.
L7 singer-guitarist Donita Sparks said in a statement, “We are all devastated by the news and are surrounding her with love, protecting her privacy and dignity, while helping raise the resources she urgently needs for the care ahead.”
Because of her condition, Finch will not join the band on the upcoming U.S. leg of their Last Hurrah Tour, which is set for the fall. She has encouraged her bandmates to proceed with the shows.
