Lee made the remarks during a public briefing in Asan, about 80 kilometers south of Seoul. He highlighted the government's tripolar mega project aimed at attracting investment in semiconductors, physical AI and AI data centers.
Samsung Group pledged 140 trillion won for an HBM fab and other facilities. SK hynix will invest 100 trillion won to build a NAND flash and advanced packaging fab in Cheongju, with the M17 plant scheduled to break ground next year and begin operations in the first half of 2029.
Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan said growth in Chungcheong's advanced industries will drive overall national growth. The government will provide tax incentives, policy financing and administrative support.
