Lightning struck a tree at Tosselilla Sommarland in Tomelilla on Sunday. A woman in her 45s was seriously injured and nine people suffered minor injuries.
The lightning strike occurred at lunchtime on Sunday. A woman in her 45s was taken to hospital by ambulance and assessed as having serious injuries according to Region Skåne. Two more people were transported by ambulance with minor injuries while seven people, including five children, went to the emergency room themselves.
Anna Svensson, 38, was at the site with her family. They ran toward the car for shelter when the thunder hit. – It felt like you were running for your life a bit, she says.
Operations manager Tommy Bauer confirmed that lightning hit a tree near the entrance. Staff helped the injured before ambulances arrived. SMHI had issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms and the park had closed some attractions in advance. The amusement park remained open after the weather passed.
