Les Républicains (LR) senators deposited a bill on Monday to reorganize state agencies, proposing the abolition of Anru and ARS. Mathieu Darnaud, LR Senate group president, aims to prompt the government to reform around 2000 structures for greater efficiency. The text focuses on major agencies affecting jobs and budgets.
LR senators filed a bill on Monday morning titled “repenser l’agencification pour renforcer l’action publique.” Backed by the LR Senate group, the initiative seeks to reorganize state-dependent structures, whose numbers and missions are often unclear.
Mathieu Darnaud, LR Senate group president, and Loiret senator Pauline Martin, LR vice-president of the inquiry commission on the issue, support the text. “Notre proposition contient une liste de suppressions, d’évolutions et de recentrages,” Darnaud stated. It prioritizes major structures with significant impacts on jobs and budgets, such as Anru (Agence nationale pour la rénovation urbaine) and ARS (Agences régionales de santé).
Amid a budget crisis, LR senators see an urgent need for efficiency-focused reform of these around 2000 entities. Darnaud hopes the bill will spark legislative debate and urge government action.
