Madonna’s new album Confessions II debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated July 18. The release marks her 10th chart-topping album and her first No. 1 of the 2020s.
The Queen of Pop achieved the milestone with 134,000 equivalent album units in the tracking week ending July 9. Confessions II is the sequel to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor and reunites her with producer Stuart Price.
Less than 12 hours after the album’s chart performance was confirmed, reports noted that Madonna had hosted a free Club Confessions party on July 11 at Queens Knockdown Center in New York City. The event featured performances and sets by Stuart Price and Honey Dijon.
Madonna took the stage at 1:10 a.m. and opened with the question “New York, I love you so much – but are you ready?” The set drew heavily from the new album along with select earlier tracks.
With this achievement Madonna becomes one of only four acts with at least 10 No. 1 albums on both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Hot 100.
