The Madhya Pradesh government has transferred Priyank Pandya, Chief Municipal Officer of Maheshwar Nagar Parishad, in the fake birth certificate case of Mahakumbh's viral girl Monalisa. The disputed certificate has been canceled, and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes has initiated an inquiry. Monalisa used it to marry Farman Khan from Bagpat in Kerala.
The Maheshwar Nagar Parishad in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh, issued Monalisa's birth certificate on 5 June 2025, listing her birth year as 2008. Farman Khan from Bagpat, Uttar Pradesh, used this document to marry her in Kerala. Investigations confirmed the certificate as fake.
Monalisa was actually born on 30 December 2009 at 5:50 pm at the Maheshwar Community Health Center. The register records her mother Latabai and father's names, with the baby's weight at 2 kg 100 gm in a normal delivery. Latabai stated she is illiterate and an unknown person exploited her ignorance to obtain signatures.
Deputy Secretary Pramod Shukla ordered Priyank Pandya's immediate transfer to Dhamnod Nagar Parishad in Dhar district. Khargone-Badwani MP Gajendra Patel described it as a love jihad conspiracy possibly involving organizations like PFI.
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes has taken cognizance and formed a high-level inquiry committee. The Nagar Parishad has canceled the certificate.
