Maja Chwalinska has advanced to the 2026 French Open final after defeating Diana Shnaider. The 24-year-old qualifier will face Mirra Andreeva for the title.
Chwalinska secured her spot in the final on Thursday by beating world No. 23 Shnaider. This marks only her third Grand Slam main-draw appearance and follows a run that included eight clay-court wins at tour level. The Polish player has known Iga Swiatek since they were 10 years old through Poland’s national tennis program. Swiatek posted support on Instagram the day before the final, sharing a graphic of the finalists with the message “Jazda” along with fire and strength emojis. Chwalinska said ahead of the match, “I want to leave Roland-Garros this year without any regrets. I just want to give my all.” She added that her initial goal for the season was to reach the top 100. The two players won European junior doubles titles together in 2015 and 2016 and helped Poland claim the Junior Fed Cup in 2016.
