Man dies after drowning at bathing spot near Hestra

A man in his 30s died in a drowning accident at Isaberg outside Hestra in Gislaved municipality on Thursday afternoon.

The alarm came shortly before 5:30 p.m. from the bathing spot. Rescue services, divers and a helicopter took part in the search for the man.

The man was found in the water after 7 p.m. He was flown by helicopter to Värnamo hospital but his life could not be saved.

Police spokesperson Martina Gradian said the man had been with several people who saw him enter the water. Relatives have been notified.
