A man in his 80s was found injured outdoors in Vellinge on Monday afternoon and taken to hospital, where he later died. Police have opened a preliminary murder investigation due to unclear circumstances. No one has been arrested.
Police were called to Malmövägen in Vellinge at 17:15 on Monday following reports of an injured man outdoors. The man was found below a balcony at a multi-family house and taken to hospital, but died from his injuries shortly before 19:35, according to police.
Police spokesperson Leif Fransson stated: "It is a man who was found deceased below a balcony. There are unclear circumstances, therefore we have opened a report on murder."
An area around the house was cordoned off, as was an apartment. Forensics experts examined the scene during Monday evening, and the outer cordons were lifted by 22:00. The apartment remains secured for further investigation. Relatives have been notified.
Another police spokesperson, Evelina Olsson, said: "We do not know if this is self-inflicted or if the man was subjected to crime. As soon as we have the slightest question mark, we need to investigate it." No suspects or detained persons at this time.
