Manchester United complete signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea

Manchester United have announced the signing of Brazil international Andrey Santos from Chelsea for a fee reported to be in the region of £50 million.

The 22-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the option for a sixth. Santos did not make the squad for this summer’s World Cup and struggled for regular playing time at Stamford Bridge.

Santos told the club’s official website that joining Manchester United is an incredible feeling. He added that he is excited to learn from Michael Carrick and compete for the biggest trophies.

United director of football Jason Wilcox said Santos was a key target with excellent technical qualities and leadership experience. The club expects the signing to be the first of two midfield additions this week.
