A 19-year-old Maryland man was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the 2025 killing of his former employer.
Jonah Poole pleaded guilty in March to first-degree murder in the death of 67-year-old Edward Koza. Anne Arundel Circuit Court Judge Cathleen Vitale handed down the sentence on Friday.
The crime occurred in May 2025 at Tropic Bay Water Gardens in Davidsonville. Koza's body was found bound with duct tape inside a burning truck, and evidence included signs of a struggle along with surveillance video.
Poole was also ordered to forfeit about $215,000 in stolen cash and a $15,000 truck. His girlfriend, Kylee Alyssa Dakes, faces trial in December.
During the hearing, Poole told the court he deserved his punishment and hoped for forgiveness.
