Mayor Bellolio leads Christmas visit to hospitalized children

The mayor of Providencia, Jaime Bellolio, led a traditional Christmas visit to the Luis Calvo Mackenna Hospital, where 145 children, girls, and adolescents spent the holidays hospitalized. The initiative included storytelling and gift delivery to brighten their special day. The hospital director, Michel Roger, highlighted the importance of bringing Christmas magic to all patients.

In a show of solidarity during the year-end holidays, the Providencia Municipality organized a Christmas visit to the Luis Calvo Mackenna Hospital in Santiago. The event, held on December 25, 2025, was led by Mayor Jaime Bellolio, who arrived with municipal staff to share moments of joy with the 145 hospitalized minors, from newborns to 17-year-old adolescents.

Bellolio was received by the hospital director, Michel Roger, and together they toured clinical units such as Infants, Early Childhood, Surgery, and Oncology. During the tour, a storyteller livened up the activity, drawing smiles from children and families. Staff dressed as Santa's helpers delivered gifts selected based on each child's age and gender.

"Today we are here because there are 145 children, girls, and adolescents who had to spend their Christmas at the Luis Calvo Mackenna Hospital, accompanied, of course, by their families, and also by all the staff who make this stay as pleasant as possible," the mayor stated. He added: "We wanted, as is tradition, to accompany them through storytelling and gifts for each of these children, girls, and adolescents".

Director Roger emphasized the initiative's value: "Our goal is that all children, girls, and adolescents who, due to their condition, must spend these days hospitalized or in exams and medical care, have the right to experience the magic of Christmas." He concluded: "It's a way of telling them: ‘No matter where you are or in what condition, Christmas reaches everywhere’".

As part of the communal celebrations, the Providencia Municipality distributed nearly 2,000 gifts to children in the area during 2025, reinforcing commitment to festive traditions.
