Chile's Meteorological Directorate issued a warning for normal to moderate frosts on Monday, July 6, with minimum temperatures between -4°C and -2°C in six regions of the central and south-central areas.
Chile's Meteorological Directorate, in a warning issued on Sunday, July 5 at 12:32 hours, indicated that frosts will affect sectors in the regions of Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O’Higgins, Maule, Ñuble and Biobío. Estimated temperatures will range between -4°C and -2°C during the early morning and morning of Monday due to a cold high-pressure system.
The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service declared a Regional Preventive Early Warning for frosts in the Maule and O’Higgins regions. In Maule, the alert covers sectors of the Coastal Mountain Range and the valley, while in O’Higgins it remains in effect for the same areas.
In addition, the government activated and extended the Blue Code to protect people living on the streets. The measure operates in specific communes across seven regions until 13:00 hours on Monday, with an additional extension until 13:00 on Tuesday in Chillán and Los Ángeles.
